Illustration workshop with guest teacher Jesús Cisneros

The course
In this workshop the individual work will enter into constant communication with that of the group, creating an experience that - in contrast to the solitude of the studio - will seek to explore the maximum possibilities, both artistic and human, of the encounter between people with different approaches to drawing and illustration.
Nature (shapes, colors, symbols) will be a fundamental part of the workshop. Also the body as a subject of representation and, at the same time, the essence of drawing that is born from intuition.
The joint exploration of varied techniques that encourage the discovery of new ways of working for the participants will be another key to the workshop.
Experiments, accidents and findings will guide a path in which word and image can establish connections and discrepancies with the aim of building stories rich in suggestions and expressive in form.
Guest teacher
Jesús Cisneros (*1969) is a Spanish artist and illustrator. He studied illustration at the School of Applied Arts and art history at the University of Zaragoza. He has published books in collaboration with publishing houses in Spain, France, Mexico, Colombia, Italy and the United Kingdom and has collaborated in various editorial projects. His artwork has been exhibited in Mexico City, Seoul, Marseille, Porto, Zaragoza and several times at the children’s book fair in Bologna and at „Illustrarte“ Lisbon. Between 2013 and 2018 he lived in Mexico City where he was combining his work as a freelance illustrator with teaching as a professor at UNAM and the Centre for Design, Film and Television. At the end of 2018 he moved back to Spain, where he works and resides in his home town Zaragoza and is teaching around Europe and abroad. His picturesque, wild and colorful work sprinkles pure creativity and joy and always seeks the encounter between diverse worlds such as drawing, painting, literature and cinema.
