Painting and Pigment Workshop with Johanna & Cristóbal Schmal and Kremer Pigmente from 10.06. – 16.06.2024 in Erlau (Odenwald)

The course
In this course we will work on color from its essence: the natural pigment. In collaboration with Kremer Pigmente, we learn how to make our own pigments from colored earths and process them into oil and watercolor paint as well as egg tempera.
In the following days we will explore these materials from an experimental and intuitive perspective, delving into external and internal landscapes. With the eyes of an explorer entering a new world we will sample nature and memory as sources of inspiration and connection.
Starting from mindful observation, we work on the theme of transformation, navigating the space between the figurative and abstraction and allowing ourselves to be guided by collected impressions, emotions and atmospheres. This journey is all about exploring new paths, experiences and processes that can open up unexpected places and possibilities for expression.

Color is the place where our brain and the universe meet.
— Paul Klee
