Painting workshop with guest teacher Gosia Machon from 01. – 07.09.2025 in Erlau (Odenwald)

The course
Every day is different. Sometimes we feel content, sometimes restless and confused, sometimes tired, sometimes full of vigour and energy…
These different physical and mental states are the centerpiece of this workshop and offer us infinite sources for personal imagery. We do not paint what is in front of us, but what is inside us: painterly or graphic equivalents in gentle or loud tones, scribbly or generous movements, ordered or chaotic systems.
This can happen on a physical level, like an automatic reaction through a drawing gesture. Or also on a mental level, such as attentive observation and intuitive reaction. The results can take any form: abstract, figurative, literary, metaphoric, clear, enigmatic – as different as our sensations themselves. We will explore and practise this personal artistic approach in a playful and experimental atmosphere. Impulses will come from our own body and mind, but also from music, literature and nature and the collective power of the workshop group.
Expressing one‘s own sensations artistically is not only a personal matter. It also creates the possibility of a resonance space in which others can find themselves - one of the most compelling reasons for me to paint and draw and to share this with others!

Guest teacher
Gosia Machon (*1979) is a polish born German painter. She graduated from HAW Hamburg (Illustration) in 2008 and has since exhibited her work and projects internationally, including galleries and art institutions in Berlin, Paris, Bologna, Antwerp, Warsaw, Istanbul, Vienna, Tel Aviv and Kyoto.
Her figurative abstract paintings and drawings are created in intuitive processes and are driven by an inner archive. Her work draws from unconscious, autobiographical and collective experiences and memories. It repeatedly revolves around the longing for untouched nature. This nature can be a biotope or a plant, and refers equally to the unfathomable meanders of our human psyche and body – the piece of wilderness within ourselves.
She received several awards including „Hamburger Arbeitsstipendium für Bildende KünstlerInnen“ 2023. Since 2013 she has been working as a lecturer and teacher for drawing and painting at several German art schools.
Gosia lives and works with her partner and her two children in Hamburg, Germany.
